Significant volunteer energy is invested each year in these major tournaments and Special Events (as well as the weekly events). Member participation is a very key element to their success. While on occasion, the format or days of play may not exactly fit your definition of “ideal,” please give serious consideration to participating, to contribute to the enjoyment of everyone –including yourself.

Super Seniors
Three round individual stroke play tournament for members age 70 or over (anyone who becomes 70 anytime during the year is eligible). There are two Divisions, a Masters Division for those 70 and over and a Legends Division for those 80 and above. The overall Low Gross winners from the Championship flight in both Divisions are the Super Senior Champions. Winners include overall Low Gross Champions and Low Gross and two Low Net in each Flight. Additionally, winners for low gross and net each round (35% of Flight). 100% handicap. Rule 21.2 maximum hole score does not apply to Championship flights.

Match Play Championship
Individual match play tournament. 100% handicap. First day is a stroke play qualifier. Players with the low 64 net scores qualify for the Championship Bracket of four 16 player flights, flighted by handicap. Match play continues until there is one winner from each flight. Flight winners play semifinals and final match to determine an overall winner. Losers of first round matches in this bracket will continue match play in a flighted consolation bracket. Players not in the low 64 Championship Bracket play in a Consolation Bracket that plays on the same days as the Championship Bracket until there is one winner from each flight.

Club Championship
Three round individual stroke play tournament. The Club Champion is the overall low gross winner in the Blue Tee flight. Flights are based on tees played. There are Blue Tee, White Tee, Combo W/Y Tee and Yellow Tee Flights. Winners determined on basis of three round scores. 100% handicap. Rule 21.2 maximum hole score does not apply to Championship (Blue Tee) flight.

Three rounds of two-man play, (Wed-Sat-Wed), best ball, shamble, scramble.

President's Cup
Three round individual stroke play tournament. Champion is player with lowest overall net score. Winners for additional overall three round low net scores and for low net scores in each flight for each round. 100% handicap.
SMGA Special Events

Ryder Cup vs. Mountain View/Preserve
Two round tournament of 2-man low handicap teams from SMGA and MPMGA using Ryder Cup formats. One round is played at SaddleBrooke and one at Mountain View or The
Preserve. -
Javelina Cup vs. Mountain View/Preserve
Two round tournament of 2-man teams from SMGA and MPMGA. One round is played at SaddleBrooke and one at Mountain View or The Preserve. A group luncheon follows the second day.
